Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Licensed Plumbing Instructor to join our educational team. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive plumbing instruction, combining hands-on training with theoretical knowledge to prepare students for successful careers in plumbing, construction, and maintenance industries. Your expertise will empower students from diverse backgrounds to develop essential technical skills, including pipefitting, hydraulics, and code compliance, while fostering a motivating learning environment. Duties
- Deliver engaging plumbing courses that cover fundamental and advanced topics such as pipe installation, plumbing codes, hydraulics, and maintenance techniques.
- Develop and update curriculum materials to ensure alignment with industry standards and certification requirements.
- Conduct classroom training sessions utilizing various educational technologies, including computers and online platforms like Blackboard, to enhance learning experiences.
- Incorporate practical demonstrations of plumbing systems, welding, HVAC/R systems, and mechanical knowledge into lessons.
- Assess student progress through exams, practical assessments, and project work; provide constructive feedback to support their growth.
- Maintain a safe learning environment by enforcing OSHA standards and safety protocols during all instructional activities.
- Collaborate with industry partners to ensure course content remains current with evolving plumbing technologies and practices.
Requirements
- Valid licensed Plumbing Instructor certification with demonstrated experience in plumbing trade education.
- Extensive knowledge of plumbing systems, electrical experience related to plumbing installations, HVAC/R systems, welding, automotive repair, aircraft maintenance or similar technical fields.
- Proven classroom training experience with adult learners from diverse cultural backgrounds; experience working with post-secondary students is highly desirable.
- Strong technical proficiency in using computers and educational technologies such as Blackboard for online instruction and course design.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing, construction projects, maintenance operations (MRO), hydraulics, welding, automotive diagnostics or repair is preferred.
- Familiarity with safety standards including OSHA regulations; ability to teach safety procedures effectively.
- Excellent communication skills combined with the ability to develop curriculum that meets industry needs and student learning objectives.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods for both in-person classroom environments and online platforms; experience in higher education teaching is a plus.
