We are seeking a passionate and energetic VPK (Voluntary Prekindergarten) Summer Teacher to inspire young learners and foster a love for early childhood education. Duties
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including literacy, math, physical education, and social skills.
- Create an engaging classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and learning through hands-on activities and play-based instruction.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively using positive reinforcement techniques to promote a respectful and inclusive atmosphere.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design lesson plans that incorporate Montessori methods and support diverse learning needs, including special education and early intervention strategies.
- Monitor and assess each child's progress through observations, standardized testing where appropriate, and ongoing formative assessments.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about children's development, achievements, and areas needing support to foster strong home-school connections.
- Ensure the safety and welfare of all children by adhering to childcare regulations, maintaining cleanliness, and supervising activities at all times.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in early childhood education, prekindergarten/primary education, preschool education, or family and consumer science; or Bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a valid Florida Educator’s Certificate (birth through 6th grade), not suspended or revoked; or
- A valid, current Florida Educator’s Certificate
- Prior experience working with children in preschool or daycare settings; classroom management skills are essential.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles, early intervention practices, and behavior management techniques.
- Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, literacy education, math instruction, and teaching physical education.
- Experience with classroom experience in private schools or daycare environments is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners including toddlers and children requiring special education support.
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
