Job Summary
For more than 40 years, Leeds Accounting & Tax Services has helped individuals and businesses across New Jersey feel more confident about their finances. Headquartered in Maywood and now part of the Ridgewood Financial Advisors family — a growing group of tax, accounting, and wealth-management firms — we’re investing in the next chapter of our practice, and we’re seeking a full-time Managing Director (CPA required) to help lead it.
This is a builder’s role. Backed by the resources of the broader Ridgewood Financial Advisors organization, you’ll help grow the practice — organically and through acquisition — with real latitude to shape how we work, the services we offer, and the team we build. We’re looking for a driven professional who wants ownership of outcomes and room to run. As the practice grows, so does the opportunity, with a path toward broader leadership across Leeds and the wider RFA organization.
What You’ll Be Doing
Above all, you’ll embody our core values of integrity and commitment to excellence — the principles behind every decision we make, including how we hire, reward, and promote. As Managing Director, you’ll own the quality of our work, develop the team, deepen client relationships, and drive the growth of the practice. Specifics include:
· Lead the day-to-day operations of our tax and accounting practice, ensuring high-quality, accurate, and on-time work across individual, business, trust, and estate engagements.
· Serve as our senior technical resource on complex tax matters for individuals, businesses, trusts, and estates.
· Mentor, coach, and develop team members — helping them grow professionally and advance in their careers.
· Grow the practice: win new business, deepen client relationships, and help develop new service lines.
· Help evaluate and integrate acquired practices as the firm continues to expand.
· Collaborate across our family of brands — including Vision Retirement and Advisor Tax Prep — to deliver integrated tax, accounting, and financial-planning solutions to shared clients.
· Lead the team through the rhythm and pressure of tax season — keeping everyone organized, motivated, and on deadline.
· Communicate clearly and build trust with clients and colleagues alike, navigating a range of personalities and expectations with composure and emotional intelligence.
· Uphold the firm’s standards for compliance, ethics, and client confidentiality.
Qualifications
You hold an active CPA license (required) and bring at least five years of progressive experience in public accounting and tax (New York & New Jersey laws). You have deep technical knowledge of taxation across individuals, businesses, trusts, and estates, and you’re meticulously detail-oriented. You also bring a demonstrated track record of credibility, trust, integrity, and ethics, and an entrepreneurial mindset for building a practice rather than simply maintaining one.
This is a full-time, in-office role — five days a week, not hybrid or remote — based in Maywood, NJ, and reporting directly to our CEO.
