Job Summary: The Building Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of Byrd Barr Place, ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient environment. This role includes managing the front desk operations and supervising the custodial staff to maintain high standards of cleanliness and customer service.
Oversee Daily Operations: Manage all aspects of building operations, including maintenance, security, and front desk activities.
Front Desk Management: Supervise front desk staff, ensuring excellent customer service and efficient handling of inquiries, reservations, and visitor management.
Client Management and Site Safety Support: Maintain a calm, welcoming, and orderly environment for clients, visitors, staff, and community partners. Support de-escalation of challenging situations using respectful communication, sound judgment, and trauma-informed customer service practices. Monitor common areas for safety concerns, assist with crowd control during high-traffic periods or events internal and external, and coordinate with leadership, emergency responders, or contracted security when additional support is needed. Address disruptive behavior in accordance with organizational policies, including requesting individuals to leave the premises when necessary and documenting incidents appropriately.
Custodial Supervision: Lead and manage the custodial team, ensuring all areas of the building are clean, well-maintained, and meet health and safety standards.
Maintenance Coordination: Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules, repairs, and refurbishments to minimize disruption to building users.
Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure the building complies with all health and safety regulations and standards.
Vendor Management: Manage relationships with contractors and service providers, ensuring quality and cost-effective services.
Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets related to building operations and maintenance.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency situations or breakdowns, organizing repairs and ensuring minimal impact on operations.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate financial and non-financial records related to building operations.
Other related duties as assigned by staff.
