Job Overview
We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated caretaker for all the beautiful kitties at our sanctuary!
Duties
- Feed and provide fresh water to cats according to established schedules and dietary needs
- Monitor cats’ health, behavior, and overall condition, reporting any concerns promptly
- Clean and disinfect cages, litter boxes, bedding, and common areas to maintain a hygienic environment
- Engage with cats through gentle handling, play, and enrichment activities to promote mental stimulation
- Administer medications or treatments as directed by veterinary staff when necessary, with training and direction
- Assist with pet sitting duties for cats requiring special attention or medical care
- Restrain animals safely during examinations or grooming procedures while ensuring their comfort
- Picking up and dropping off kittens at spay and neuter appointments once or twice a month
- Picking up kittens that are being admitted to the sanctuary
- Helping trap community cats before clinic days
- Dropping off kittens that have been adopted
- Greeting visitors to the sanctuary and providing tours,
- Coordinating tasks with volunteers
- Helping put together new toys that have been purchased for the kittens
- Other various tasks as the need arises
This is an independent contractor position and pays $25 an hour, with a range of 5-8 hours per day currently. Position is on Fridays and Saturdays at our location in Volcano. If you're interested in applying, please send a resume to [email protected]
Requirements
- MUST have reliable transportation
- Prior experience with animal handling, pet sitting, or kennel work is highly preferred
- Knowledge of veterinary procedures, veterinary technician or assistant experience is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary (e.g., moving supplies or equipment)
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with veterinary staff and team members
- Demonstrated ability to handle animals gently yet confidently, including restraint techniques
- Basic understanding of animal care best practices is advantageous
- Flexibility to work weekends consistently and adapt to changing needs within the shelter or facility
Pay: $25.00 - $26.00 per hour
