Job Summary
We’re a start-up Vietnamese food manufacturer in Northern Virginia looking for an experienced cook who can also help run daily food production operations.
We're seeking an energetic and detail-oriented person who is passionate about making great food.
This role is vital in ensuring that all food manufacturing activities adhere to strict safety, quality, and sanitation standards while maintaining efficient workflow.
The ideal candidate will lead production, coordinate food processing tasks, and uphold compliance with industry regulations such as USDA (US Department of Agriculture) and FDA (Food and Drug Administration) guidelines.
You’ll be hands-on preparing, cooking and packaging our products, while also managing part of the kitchen team and production flow.
Must be able to work independently and make good decisions.
Responsibilities
- Lead food prepping, cooking, and packaging.
- Manage and participate in daily food production activities, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, sanitation, and quality standards.
- Manage food processing workflows to optimize efficiency while maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness and sanitation.
- Conduct regular inspections of the manufacturing environment to ensure compliance with sanitation standards and mechanical integrity of equipment.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to production logs, quality checks, sanitation records, and incident reports.
- Utilize basic math skills for inventory management, batch calculations, and quality control measurements.
- Operate or oversee the operation of production equipment.
Experience
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a fast-paced restaurant, commercial kitchen, or catering company.
- Proven experience in a food industry manufacturing or processing plant environment with knowledge of USDA/FDA regulations, HACCP principles, and CGMP standards.
- Ability to lead and work on your own.
- Reliable, clean, and detail-oriented.
- Passionate about making great food.
- Experience with Asian cuisine is a big plus.
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment maintenance and troubleshooting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with packaging processes and the use of basic math for inventory control or process calculations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to train staff effectively.
