American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 17-week Oncology (Med/Surg) travel assignment requiring a GA or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of oncology experience.

Acute care inpatient oncology unit (7th floor) at a hospital setting
-
29-bed unit serving patients with acute oncology symptoms including thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology conditions, end-of-life care, and medical overflow
-
Outpatient oncology patients may be transferred to the floor to complete treatment when the outpatient area closes
-
Patient ratio is typically 1:5, occasionally 1:6

Telemetry monitoring is present via central monitor; ability to read strips is not required

Charting in MEDITECH
-
12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
-
Every other weekend required
-
Holiday rotation with staff required
-
Floating to medical acute floor is rare
-
3-day floor-specific orientation provided
-
Active GA RN license or compact RN license currently in hand

Current BLS certification (AHA) required; NIHSS preferred

ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) certification required for those administering chemotherapy

Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required

Driver's license required for consideration

Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Candidates who have been employed by the facility within the last 12 months are not eligible

Nurse aides are available, generally 3 per day on a shift

Charge nurse is provided outside of the staffing grid except in unusual circumstances

Any time-off or scheduling requests must be established at the time of assignment confirmation

RTO requests made after the assignment begins may not be honored
