The Transportation Procurement Specialist 1, under general supervision, performs professional, full-performance level work procuring for the Department of Transportation and is responsible for purchasing functions, reviewing purchase requisitions for accuracy and completeness, contracts, inventory, and records management activities. Work may include the purchasing of goods or services requiring an in-depth knowledge of the area of employment. May monitor inventory and/or fixed assets. Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED TRAINING/EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

Substitution 1: Four (4) years of technical experience in governmental procurement, inventory management, or financial-related functions may be substituted for the training/education on a year-for-year basis through an established formula.
OR
Substitution 2: A combination of completed coursework from a regionally accredited college or university and experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis through an established formula.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Promotional Only: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a Transportation Business Operations Assistant Senior or a Transportation Purchasing Associate, with an emphasis in procurement, Inventory, or fixed assets experience.
