Medical Assistant Worker Job Description
We are hiring a Medical Assistant Triage to join our team. The right candidate will take medical information from patients calling and determine appropriate disposition and documents per established telephone triage protocols. To do well in this role you should have previous experience in Medical Assisting, have had the proper education, and be knowledgeable in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
This position requires a high school diploma and secondary education in Medical Assisting. Typically reports to an Operations Manager. Has a valid driver license, insurance, and reliable transportation. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Requires at least 2 years of work experience.
Medical Assistant Triage Worker Responsibilities:
The Medical Assistant will perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly.
- Phone skills and etiquette
- Scheduling and confirming appointments
- Answers telephone promptly and identifies self. Always asks the patient’s name and identifying information to ensure correct medical record is accessed. Documents all patient calls with objective patient related information and instruction.

Medical Assistant Worker Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a medical assistant position
Previous experience working with athenahealth highly desirable
Previous experience working in an OB/GYN environment highly desirable
Highly organized and detail oriented
Excellent communication skills oral and written; able to communicate effectively with patients
and all levels within the care center
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced office environment
Experience with medical coding
EMR experience
Eye for detail.
Professional presentation and attitude.
Ability to maintain focus while working individually.
Strong time management skills.
Valid Driver License Required.
Ability to pass background check and drug test.
