Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform detailed Sheet Metal Takeoffs utilizing QuoteSoft software.
- Perform Mechanical and HVAC Piping Takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications.
- Review construction plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents.
- Assist estimators in preparing complete bid proposals for commercial HVAC and mechanical projects.
- Solicit pricing from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Follow up with vendors and subcontractors to obtain quotations and confirm pricing.
- Maintain bid logs, estimating databases, and project files.
- Assist with labor and material cost analysis.
- Track project bid deadlines and ensure timely submission requirements are met.
- Coordinate with project managers, estimators, and field personnel regarding scope and pricing questions.
- Support value engineering and cost-saving initiatives during the estimating process.
- Prepare preliminary budgets and quantity summaries as directed.
QualificationsRequired
- 2+ years of experience in HVAC, Mechanical Contracting, Construction Estimating, or a related field.
- Experience performing Sheet Metal Takeoffs.
- Experience performing Mechanical Piping Takeoffs.
- Proficiency using QuoteSoft Estimating Software.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Preferred
- Experience with commercial HVAC projects.
- Knowledge of ductwork fabrication and installation methods.
- Familiarity with plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Experience working for a mechanical contractor or HVAC contractor.
- Knowledge of labor units and estimating best practices.
