Salary Range (depends on experience).
Full-time position 40 hours per week (9:45am - 6:15pm)
Job Purpose: The After School Program Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the after school program, ensuring a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for youth participants ages 13-22. This role requires a compassionate leader who thrives in a team setting, has experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, and is passionate about making a difference in their lives.
Qualifications:
Education:
Minimum AA degree. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Personal qualifications for this position include the ability to interact effectively with both children and parents and the ability to work cooperatively with other staff members and the ability to be flexible. Also need to be CPR and first aid certified.
Responsibilities:
The Site Supervisor will be responsible for planning and coordinating a recreational program for each participant. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Implement high quality and engaging exposure-based lesson plans for different ages (middle school, high school, and ATP) and levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
- In charge of developing/planning program work plans, monitoring program progress, and regularly reporting updates on program activities
- Plan, implement, and evaluate engaging and developmentally appropriate activities, including academics, arts, life skills, and recreational programming.
- Attend all required meetings (Department meetings, Check-in with Supervisor, etc.) and attend outside meetings and events related to program needs and development
- Prepare and submit all paperwork in a timely manner (Monthly reports, assessments, etc.)
- Contribute to ongoing development of program elements and policies
- Adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards and values at all times
- Assess potential participants using evaluation techniques
- Sets appropriate long and short-term goals for participants based on assessment findings
- Designs individual activities plan to allow accomplishment of goals.
- Documents all findings and progress performed in participants’ record.
- Oversee and manage staff responsible for the after school program on a daily basis.
- Teach a “team approach” skills to staff members and parents.
- Participates in program and protocol development within facility and within assigned programs
- Responsible for site staffing schedules and recruitment of participants and volunteers.
- Supervise after school program interns and volunteers.
- Attends IEP per parents request.
- Maintains awareness of changes in the Therapeutic Recreation field; attend seminars and meeting to enhance personal professional and to assist in maintaining the participation of the special child.
- Acts as a positive role model regarding consumer relations and interactions
- Keep on-going relationships with Regional Center Service Coordinators.
- Plan and implement a collaborative special event (i.e., Halloween, Holiday party, etc.)
- Support fundraising, special events, or outreach efforts as needed.
Work Conditions:
Occasional travel (20%) during the work day, work outside in varying temperature
Physical Requirements: Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 pounds. Frequent periods of standing, occasional bending, sitting, kneeling, and stooping.
Other Requirements:
- Associate’s Degree (or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, or related field preferred)
- 2+ years of experience working with youth or individuals with developmental disabilities
- Supervisory or leadership experience in a youth program or educational setting
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Live scan fingerprint clearance
- Health Screening and TB test clearance
- First Aid, CPR certification
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Preferred:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or other language)
- Knowledge of disability rights, special education, or inclusion practices
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and behavior support strategies
