Job Description – Professional Coding Specialist
Responsibilities includes:
· Coding an average of 60 professional surgery cases per day
· Assigning appropriate ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS codes abstracted from documentation
· Assigning appropriate Modifiers and Units abstracted from documentation
Coding will be your primary responsibility; however, you will have a varying secondary workload determined by need and strategic planning to advance your skill set. This will cultivate your knowledge and understanding organically preparing you for growth and advancement. Simultaneously, we will provide you with secondary tasks in other functional areas of the revenue cycle, maximizing your exposure and fostering an advantageous environment geared towards your professional growth.

Job Qualifications
- Must hold a current coding certification (CPC preferred)
- Certified Orthopedic Surgery Coder (COSC) preferred
- Must possess an intermediate to expert level of experience in surgical coding for Trauma, Foot and Ankle and Spine
- Strong understanding of NCCI protocols and carrier corporate policy bulletins
- Strong understanding of LCDs and carrier specific medical necessity guidelines
- Exceptionally detailed, organized, and highly accurate with ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of Anatomy and medical terminology.
- Strong understanding of CPT codes, HCPCs codes, ICD-10 codes and modifiers.
- Multi-tasking expertise.
- Working knowledge of programs such as, Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
- Well-developed interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with people from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds.

- $20.19 - $24.79 hourly (staring compensation)
- 12-days PTO after 60-Day probationary period

Education
- High school or equivalent (Required)
- Coding Certifications, CPC and/or CCS (Required), COSC (Preferred)
- Apprentice level coding certifications will not be accepted at this time
