Job Title: Grocery Store Clerk
Location: Ironbound Farm Market – Lackawanna Plaza, Montclair, NJ
Employment Type: Hourly Full to Part Time
Job Overview:
We are looking for an energetic individual with a passion for local, sustainably-grown food and the environment with exceptional customer-service skills to assist customers & general store operations
Responsibilities:
- Running the register: including but not limited to handling sales, gathering customer feedback, and professionally answering questions & concerns
- Educate customers on the Who, What, & Why of the practices & stories of our regional artisan producers and growers.
- Maintaining store efficiency, inventory management, safety, and regulatory compliance
- Working the sales floor, providing helpful advice and answering questions about our products & producers.
- Create an environment that is customer-friendly and service-oriented.
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal food regulations
- Develop ways to promote the sale of goods, including materials, events, and education for customers
- Following opening & closing procedures
Qualifications
- Customer service-oriented with proven experience
- Sincere commitment to supporting small farmers and locally grown food and a connection to Ironbound’s mission to build a sustainable food system
- Experience managing teams / store staff
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience with POS and inventory systems
- Food handling experience strongly preffered
- Must be able to handle the sales of alcoholic beverages & complete the required training & certifications necessary to do so while adhering to all local, state, and federal laws.
