Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Operations Manager specializing in trucking dispatching to lead our road transportation operations. Duties
- Oversee daily trucking dispatch operations, ensuring timely pickup and delivery of freight across multiple routes.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS), vehicle dispatch software, and GPS technology to monitor fleet movements and optimize routing.
- Coordinate with drivers via multi-line phone systems and internal communication channels to relay instructions, updates, and address issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate data entry related to shipments, vehicle logs, and delivery schedules using Microsoft Office tools and specialized logistics software such as Oracle Transportation Management.
- Ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, safety standards, and road transportation laws during all dispatch activities.
- Manage customer service interactions by providing timely updates on freight status and resolving logistical concerns professionally.
- Analyze transportation data to improve route efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall supply chain performance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in road transportation operations, logistics, or fleet management with a focus on dispatching.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS), vehicle dispatch software, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and GPS technology.
- Excellent communication skills for phone call management, internal coordination, and customer service.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, shipping & receiving procedures, and freight documentation requirements.
- Demonstrated analysis skills for route planning, fleet utilization, and logistics optimization.
- Ability to perform data entry accurately while maintaining attention to detail using Microsoft Office applications like Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with Oracle Transportation Management or similar transportation management platforms is preferred.
