Duties
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote literacy education, math skills, physical activity, and social-emotional growth
- Foster a positive classroom environment through effective behavior management and classroom management techniques
- Support child development instruction by observing, assessing, and documenting each child's progress in various developmental domains
- Engage children in activities tailored for toddlers and preschoolers, including early intervention strategies when necessary
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones
- Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws and child welfare standards to maintain a safe learning environment
- Incorporate special education practices when working with children who have unique learning needs or require additional support
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the classroom at all times
- Conduct standardized testing or assessments as needed to monitor developmental progress and inform instructional strategies
- Participate in ongoing professional development related to childhood development, classroom techniques, and early childhood education best practices
Requirements
- Proven experience working with children in a preschool or daycare setting with classroom experience preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early intervention strategies
- Strong communication skills for effective parent communication and team collaboration
- Ability to develop engaging age appropriate curriculum content across subjects such as literacy education, math, physical education, and social skills
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required or obtainable upon hire
- Familiarity with mandated reporting laws and child welfare policies to ensure compliance and safety
- Experience teaching or tutoring young children is advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to manage behavior positively while fostering an inclusive classroom environment
- Experience working with special education needs or implementing individualized support plans is a plus
- Flexibility, patience, enthusiasm for early childhood education, and a commitment to nurturing young learners
