Essential Health - Bozeman is recruiting a part-time (with potential for full-time) Medical Assistant to join our growing practice. Essential Health is a well-established direct-access primary care practice specializing in optimization, functional medicine, and anti-aging. We are innovative and practice on the cutting edge of healthcare. Rather than focus on disease management, our functionally trained providers work to optimize the health of our clients using a variety of medical modalities. Preference given to candidates with primary care and phlebotomy skills. We are a close-knit team and looking for the next person to join our family. Serious candidates only please.
Position Summary
This initially part-time position will work closely with our providers and staff to promote optimal health for our clients by offering excellent service, communication and encouragement. The ideal candidate will be customer-driven and health conscious, and will demonstrate a positive demeanor, good verbal and written communication skills, and a professional appearance and approach. Candidate must have the ability to work closely with a small team and communicate with a wide variety of people in an effective manner.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team to provide quality health care to the clients.
- Work directly alongside providers to provide patient care remotely and in person.
- A large portion of this job will be spent assisting in our onsite lab. This includes drawing labs, processing labs, entering orders, resulting orders.
- Communicate professionally with patients directly through our patient portal and in person.
- Assist with sending referrals, medication refills, prior authorizations, request medical records.
- Perform diagnostic testing (EKG, spirometry, vision screening, fitness testing, cognitive testing, etc.)
- Room patients and check vitals signs.
- Chart in our electronic medical record system (EMR).
- Document patient issues or concerns and relay to the provider.
- Take medical history for new patients. Update and audit patients' health records for accuracy and thoroughness.
- Set up and clean exam rooms.
- Administer routine subcutaneous/intramuscular injections.
- May assist with placing and removing peripheral intravenous lines.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
- Updates and advances job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Process billing information and collect payments when required.
- Perform administrative and clerical duties as required.
- Possess the aptitude and initiative to be trained in any of the skills above.
Requirements
- Current MA certification.
- Current BLS certification.
- Prefer previous phlebotomy experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work 30 hours a week: Monday – Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00am – 12:00pm. These hours may expand as desired / needed.
- Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service.
- Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong Computer Skills: Microsoft Office 365, Excel, Outlook.
- Knowledge of and confidence in using an electronic medical record (EMR).
