Backcountry North is looking for passionate, team-oriented individuals to join our sales floor. Whether it’s helping someone gear up for their first camping trip or dialing in a technical layering system, our goal is to create an exceptional in-store experience through education, curiosity, and genuine connection.

Founded in 1978 in downtown Traverse City, Backcountry North is built on a love for the outdoors, our local community, and the environment. We’re a close-knit team that values hard work, product knowledge, and getting outside - before or after shifts.
What You’ll Do
- Engage with customers and guide them toward the right gear for their needs
- Deliver thoughtful, solutions-based sales presentations
- Learn and retain detailed product knowledge through hands-on training
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and well-merchandised sales floor
- Restock inventory and assist with daily store operations
- Process transactions accurately and efficiently
What We’re Looking For
- A genuine passion for the outdoors (hiking, paddling, camping, etc.)
- Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset
- Curiosity and willingness to learn (no prior gear expertise required - we train you)
- Initiative and a proactive approach to helping customers and coworkers
- Availability for at least 3 shifts per week, including weekends
- Willingness to work at both Traverse City locations

- Part-time or full-time, year-round
- Minimum of 3 shifts per week
- Scheduled across both store locations

Pay
Starting wage varies based on experience.
