Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including recording vital signs, medical histories, and updating electronic health records (EHR) systems accurately.
- Prepare examination rooms, sterilize equipment, and ensure all clinical supplies are stocked and organized for daily procedures.
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration, and basic wound care under supervision.
- Support patient care by explaining procedures, providing comfort, and ensuring a positive experience during visits.
- Manage medical documentation with precision, including coding diagnoses (ICD coding), updating medical records, and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Facilitate communication between patients and providers by scheduling appointments, follow-ups, and coordinating referrals as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe clinical environment while adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical assisting techniques.
- Experience working in primary care, hospital medicine, urgent care, or emergency medicine settings is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and EMR/EHR management tools for accurate documentation.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy, vital signs measurement, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS).
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient populations including geriatrics and pediatric patients.
- Familiarity with ICD coding processes, medical records management, and inpatient/outpatient clinical workflows.
