JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Community School Specialist (CSS) is a full-time, school-based leader responsible for developing and sustaining partnerships that support students and families in achieving academic success and overall well-being. The CSS leads the implementation of a community school strategy aligned to a school-specific community school plan and works collaboratively with school leadership, staff, families, and community partners to support the whole child academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.

Serving as a strategic thought partner, the CSS coordinates and aligns resources within the assigned school community to achieve measurable educational and developmental outcomes. This role requires a dynamic professional who can effectively navigate multiple systems, build strong relationships, and foster a high-performing community school environment.

This is a grant-funded position that ends on June 30, 2030.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Implement the Community School Framework in alignment with the school district’s strategic plan.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with school leaders, staff, families, community organizations, and other stakeholders.

· Coordinate and align academic, social-emotional, health, and community-based resources based on school data and identified needs.

· Lead the development of integrated supports and programs that may occur before, during, or after school, and during summer months.

· Serve as a connector and bridge among stakeholders to strengthen school-community collaboration and student support systems.

· Create a welcoming, supportive school environment where students and families feel valued and community partners feel engaged.

· Monitor implementation efforts to ensure effective service delivery and positive outcomes for students and families.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum of bachelor’s degree in education, social work, health, or a closely related field.

· Experience working with local community resources, agencies, and school system.

· Knowledge of the Community Schools Framework as a strategy for leading public schools and school systems (special education, pupil services, truancy, etc.)

· Knowledge of resources available to families within the community.

· Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships and collaborate across diverse groups.

· Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

· Ability to analyze data and align resources to identified needs.

· Commitment to balanced opportunities, student success, and community-centered approaches.

Preferred Qualifications

· Bilingual in Spanish

· Experience within a PreK-12 setting
