The Director of Peace Academy is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and success of the childcare center. This role ensures a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children while overseeing staff performance, curriculum implementation, enrollment growth, regulatory compliance, financial management, and family engagement. The Director serves as the center's leader, fostering a positive culture for children, families, and employees while maintaining the highest standards of care and education.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily operations of the childcare center, ensuring excellence in child care, safety, and educational programming.
- Lead, supervise, mentor, and evaluate teaching and administrative staff to promote professional growth and high performance.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain qualified staff members.
- Ensure effective implementation of curriculum and monitor classroom quality and child development outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with all state licensing regulations, health and safety requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Manage enrollment processes, conduct family tours, and support marketing initiatives to maintain and grow enrollment.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with families, addressing concerns professionally and fostering a welcoming environment.
- Develop, implement, and enforce center policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, tuition collection, purchasing, and inventory management.
- Maintain accurate records related to children, staff, licensing, attendance, incidents, and program operations.
- Coordinate with vendors, maintenance personnel, food service providers, and community partners.
- Ensure emergency preparedness plans are current and staff are properly trained.
- Promote a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Represent Peace Academy within the community and support outreach efforts and partnerships.
Qualifications
- Active Director's Credential (with VPK Endorsement)
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
- Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in a licensed childcare center, preschool, or early childhood education setting.
- Previous leadership experience as a Director, Assistant Director, Program Coordinator, or similar management role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Florida state childcare licensing regulations and compliance requirements.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Excellent leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with staff supervision, scheduling, performance management, and team development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and childcare management software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and movement throughout the day.
- Ability to supervise children and staff in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
