Job Summary

Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Assess patients’ oral health status by examining teeth, gums, and oral tissues, utilizing dental x-ray and other medical imaging tools.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing techniques, and dietary advice to prevent dental issues.
- Take vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to monitor overall health status prior to treatment.
- Operate dental equipment efficiently while maintaining strict infection prevention protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
- Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
- Review medical records and coordinate with the dental team to ensure comprehensive patient care and accurate medical coding.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Proven experience working in dental clinics or healthcare settings with familiarity in dental terminology and procedures.
- Proficiency in using EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and management of electronic health records (EHR).
- Strong knowledge of infection control standards, healthcare infection prevention, and control practices aligned with OSHA guidelines.
- Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures safely while maintaining patient comfort and safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills for client education, team collaboration, and delivering compassionate patient care.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles is a plus, along with experience in medical imaging and vital signs assessment.
