Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired supporting students in a school-based environment. In this full-time, onsite position, you’ll collaborate with a team dedicated to empowering 20-23 students with diverse needs. The assignment begins as soon as possible and runs through May 21, 2027—offering the opportunity to provide continuity and stability throughout the school year.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license and certifications (required)
- Previous experience supporting K-12 students with visual impairments
- Strong understanding of Braille instruction, adaptive technology, and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Ability to adapt instruction and materials to a range of student needs and abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with families, educators, and related service providers
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments
- Develop and implement individualized plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Assess student strengths, needs, and progress, keeping accurate and thorough records
- Advise and provide resources to classroom teachers to ensure accessible learning environments
- Support students’ orientation and mobility training, as needed
- Communicate effectively with students’ families regarding progress and strategies for support
Role Details:
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, onsite only
- Serve a caseload of 20-23 students with varying levels of need
- Provide expertise and advocacy as a valued member of the educational team
