Position Overview:
As a School-Based Speech Language Pathology Assistant with Strides Therapy & Educational Services, you will play an important role in supporting students' communication development and academic success within a partnering school district in Virginia. Under the guidance and supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide evidence-based speech and language services, collaborate with educators and school teams, and help students build the skills they need to thrive in the classroom and beyond. Your dedication and support will make a meaningful impact on the lives of students while being part of a collaborative, therapist-led team that values the work you do.
This is an In-Person Role
Requirements: Current Virginia Speech Language Pathology Assistant license issued by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology
Expected Hours per week: 7.5 hours a day; 37.5 per week
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree from a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) program from an accredited program
- Virginia State licensure or eligibility to obtain
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, educators, and support staff.
- Ability to work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist
- Experience working with children in a school setting preferred but not required
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist an SLPA is expected to:
- Provide direct speech and language therapy services to students
- Implement individualized treatment plans and strategies developed by the supervising SLP
- Support students in improving articulation, language, fluency, social communication, and other communication skills
- Collect and document student progress data and maintain accurate therapy records
- Collaborate with other Speech Language Pathologists, teachers, special education staff, and other members of the educational team
- Participate in team meetings and communicate student progress with the supervising SLP and school staff
- Assist with preparation of therapy materials and activities that support student goals
- Follow all school district policies, procedures, and documentation requirements
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with students and families
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and ethical standards governing speech-language pathology assistant services in private practice
