Position Summary
Stark Pharmacy is seeking a highly detail-oriented and skilled Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing customized medications in both non-sterile and sterile environments under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical ability, adherence to regulatory and safety standards, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
Key ResponsibilitiesCompounding & Preparation
- Accurately prepare non-sterile compounded medications in accordance with prescriptions, master formulations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Perform compounding activities following USP <795>, <797>, and <800> guidelines.
- Accurately measure, weigh, and mix pharmaceutical ingredients.
- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and documentation of compounded products.
Inventory & Materials Management
- Manage inventory of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), chemicals, and supplies.
- Ensure proper storage conditions (temperature, humidity control, hazardous materials handling).
- Track expiration dates and rotate stock to minimize waste.
- Order supplies as needed and verify deliveries for accuracy.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance
- Clean and maintain compounding equipment such as balances, mixers, hoods, and cleanroom areas.
- Ensure compliance with hazardous drug handling and safety protocols (including PPE use).
- Participate in routine cleaning schedules for USP-compliant workspaces.
Customer & Team Support
- Collaborate closely with pharmacists, technicians, and other pharmacy staff.
- Provide excellent service when interacting with patients, providers, or internal stakeholders.
- Assist in prescription intake, processing, and workflow coordination as needed.
- Maintain detailed compounding logs, batch records, and ingredient tracking documentation.
- Perform routine checks on equipment calibration, cleaning, and environmental monitoring.
- Assist in audits, inspections, and internal quality control programs.
- Report and document deviations, errors, or contamination risks immediately.Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in hazardous drug compounding
- Familiarity with pharmacy compounding software and documentation systems
- Prior experience in a specialty or compounding pharmacy setting
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Manual dexterity to perform precise compounding tasks
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work in cleanroom environments and wear PPE for prolonged periods
Work Environment
- Laboratory-style compounding environment, including non-sterile workspace
- Exposure to chemicals and pharmaceutical ingredients (with required safety precautions)

- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred but not mandatory
- Active registration with the State Board of Pharmacy within 30 days.
- Minimum 1–2 years of pharmacy experience (compounding experience strongly preferred)
- Knowledge of USP standards (<795>, <797>, <800>)
- Strong math and measurement skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
