Position Overview:
The Project Engineer III – Sustainability provides technical and engineering support to Program Management Office (PMO) staff, Project Managers, Construction Managers, College Project Teams, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders throughout all phases of project delivery.
This role supports the planning, design, construction, commissioning, and closeout of sustainability-focused capital projects across LACCD campuses.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Management & Coordination
- Provide technical and engineering support to Project Managers and Construction Managers.
- Coordinate with PMO staff, College Project Teams, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, inspectors, and campus stakeholders.
- Participate in and facilitate design, construction, and coordination meetings.
- Prepare meeting agendas, meeting minutes, status reports, and project documentation.
- Support weekly and monthly project reporting, including progress photographs and project updates.
Construction Administration
- Perform field inspections to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, District standards, and Division of the State Architect (DSA) requirements.
- Review and interpret construction documents, plans, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals.
- Review, negotiate, and process change orders and construction field directives.
- Review contractor and consultant invoices for accuracy and contract compliance.
- Confirm maintenance of record drawings prior to contractor payment approvals.
- Maintain complete project files in electronic and hard-copy formats.
Contract & Risk Management
- Support administration of construction and professional services contracts.
- Assist with consultant and contractor procurement documentation.
- Prepare Scope of Work documents and project status reports.
- Develop and maintain project risk registers and mitigation plans.
- Facilitate resolution of construction and design issues.
- Coordinate responses to RFIs, submittals, and Construction Change Documents.
Board & Administrative Support
- Draft Proposed Board Actions (PBAs).
- Assist in preparing correspondence, reports, procedures, and project guidelines.
- Support project closeout activities and documentation.
Sustainability Project Experience Preferred
Candidates with experience supporting one or more of the following sustainability initiatives are highly encouraged to apply:

Minimum Required Qualifications:

- Seven (7) years of professional experience in construction, project engineering, construction management, architecture, engineering, or a closely related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education Substitution:
Four (4) additional years of qualifying professional experience beyond the minimum required experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting educational facility construction programs.
- Experience working on Division of the State Architect (DSA) projects.
- Experience throughout the full project lifecycle, including planning, design, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or similar professional certification.
- Experience supporting large public-sector capital improvement programs.

Pay: $125,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
