Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical:

Perform technical reviews of alldesignsin the region.

Providetechnical guidance,trainingand mentoring for the regional design team.

Get involved in problems and issues as they happen.

Coordinateinternal and external project meetings, correspond withclientsandrepresentMenard wellinall communications.

Serveas a senior technical resource and the main point of contact for regional design issues.
-
Performdesigntasks,as needed.
-
Work with the sales team to provide design input at the bid stage.
-
Investigate issues or problems to find solutions, even when they are outside the scope of our typical work.
Logistical:

Manageoverall workload andassignnewprojectsfor the regional design teams.

Manageproject schedules andconfirmthatdeliverabledates are met.
-
Work withotherRegional Design Managers and the Director of Engineering to provideappropriate coverageof projects.

Set the general outline for project design and confirm adherence to that procedure.
Managerial – may vary by location – hiring manager to review and edit:

Understand the designers’ workload, morale, technical or personnel issues and address items,as needed.

Perform performance reviewsandidentifytraining opportunitiesforthe regionaldesign engineers.

Providea team environment for the regional designengineers

Host regular Teams meetings or in-person meetings.
-
Inform regional design engineers of lessons learned or updates from other regions.
-
Coordinatethe onboarding process for new members of the regional design team.
-
Holdregular check-in meetings to perform technical reviews and recaps of projects.
-
Coordinateandattendsite visits to provide an understanding of how we execute our work.
-
Scheduletechnicaltrainingfor new Design Engineers in Carnegie office.
-
Performadditionaltechnicaltraining for new Design Engineers during project work and as knowledge gaps or lack of training areidentified.

Serveas an advocate for your regional designers and a liaison to upper management – communicateforthem and to them.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-
Strong understanding of geotechnical design and calculation principles.
-
Strong understanding and experience with ground improvement design and construction.
-
Proficient with slope stability analysis and finite element modeling.
-
Proficient with MS Word,Exceland Outlook, familiar with AutoCAD.
-
Ability to effectively communicate in group settings.
-
Strongoral and writtencommunicationskills.
-
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to develop ideas and offer alternatives tofacilitatesolutions.

Ability to manage multiple commitments and consistently meet deadlines.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Master’s or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering plus 5-7 years of geotechnical design experience or coursework preferred -OR- any equivalent combination of education and experience which meets the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Certifications, Licenses, Etc.:
Required: Professional Engineering License
