EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position provides direct nursing care and treatment for individuals with a wide range of health needs in a correctional setting. The role supports safe, effective, and compassionate care as part of a professional medical team. As a Registered Nurse, you will perform the following duties:

Vital Sign Monitoring: Check and record vital signs and observe patient conditions

Medication Administration: Administer oral, intravenous, intramuscular, and subcutaneous medications as directed

Treatment Support: Carry out nursing treatments and assist clinicians during examinations and clinics

Health Guidance: Provide patients with education, counseling, and support for daily living activities
-
Emergency Response: Perform assessments and deliver emergency care including CPR and first aid

Record Management: Document patient information and maintain accurate electronic health records

Work Hours and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40-hour work week.

The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

1st shift: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

2nd shift: 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm
-
3rd shift: 10:00 pm to 6:30 am

Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs

This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $88,130.00 (before taxes).
