Production Supervisor Supply Chain & Material Operations
Position Summary
We are seeking a Production Supervisor Supply Chain & Material Operations to lead day-to-day operations within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This position will supervise approximately 1525 union-represented employees while partnering with cross-functional teams to support production schedules, material movement, safety, quality, and operational performance.
The ideal candidate is a confident, hands-on leader who can establish credibility with an experienced workforce, hold employees accountable, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and independently take ownership of operational challenges and projects.
This team is supporting increased production demand, including the expansion of third-shift operations across two engine lines and the ramp-up of a new V8 program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of approximately 1525 production and material-handling employees.
- Provide hands-on leadership within a union manufacturing environment.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet production schedules, deadlines, and operational objectives.
- Ensure safe work practices are followed and hold employees accountable for safety requirements and established procedures.
- Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and performance management to team members.
- Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, material flow, and operational efficiency.
- Review operations and collaborate with technical and administrative personnel to resolve production and processing issues.
- Monitor production, quality control, and maintenance activities to identify and address operational problems.
- Support production tracking and quality control processes.
- Train, evaluate, and develop employees and assist with resolving personnel concerns.
- Prepare and maintain production reports and personnel records.
- Respond quickly to changing production, supply chain, and material requirements.
- Communicate effectively with employees, leadership, and cross-functional partners through meetings, messaging, and direct floor interaction.
- Independently manage assigned projects and operational priorities with appropriate ownership and initiative.
Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or managerial experience.
- Ability to effectively lead employees, establish expectations, and hold team members accountable.
- Strong adaptability and ability to make decisions in a rapidly changing manufacturing environment.
- Strong verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment requiring significant walking and standing.
Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree or higher.
- Previous supervisory or managerial experience in a union/UAW environment.
- Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing.
- Knowledge of supply chain, logistics, material movement, or material handling operations.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and techniques used to improve manufacturing and distribution efficiency.

Work Environment & Schedule

100% onsite in an automotive manufacturing facility.
- This is a plant-floor leadership position requiring frequent walking and standing.
- Candidates must have flexibility to work and potentially rotate between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.
- Initial training will take place on 1st shift.
- Shift schedules are approximately:
- 1st Shift: 5:30 AM 2:30 PM
- 2nd Shift: 1:30 PM 10:30 PM
- 3rd Shift: 9:30 PM 6:30 AM
- Overtime is expected approximately every other Saturday.
- No remote work is available.
- Assignment extensions may be available based on performance, budget, and business needs.
