We're seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Producer to drive new business growth. This is a true hunter role: you'll prospect, build relationships with business owners and decision-makers, present tailored coverage solutions, and bring new accounts onto our platform. Once you win the business, our experienced service team handles the day-to-day servicing so you can stay focused on selling. With uncapped commission and a close-knit team, this is a chance to be part of a growing organization.
Responsibilities
- Develop new commercial business through outside sales: prospecting, networking events, and referral relationships with bankers, CPAs, attorneys, and other centers of influence.
- Meet with business owners and decision-makers to understand their operations, exposures, and risk management needs.
- Present tailored coverage proposals and clearly communicate recommendations that fit each client's risk profile.
- Partner with our marketing and service teams to market accounts to the right carriers and negotiate competitive terms and pricing.
- Write new business within agency and carrier guidelines and close accounts.
- Coordinate clean handoffs of bound accounts to the service team, then stay engaged with key clients to support retention and account rounding.
- Maintain accurate prospect and client records in Applied Epic and keep your pipeline current.
- Stay current on industry trends, coverage developments, and Maryland regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a commercial lines producer, with a track record of writing new business.
- Active Maryland Property & Casualty license.
- Self-motivated hunter mentality with strong prospecting, networking, and closing skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build trust with business owners and executives.
- Ability to assess client needs and market conditions and tailor coverage accordingly.
Preferred (a plus, not required):
- Knowledge of the construction industry and contractor insurance needs.
- Familiarity with Applied Epic.
- An established local referral network or existing book of prospects.
- Professional designations (CIC, CPCU, or similar).
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary or recoverable draw of $65,000 to $85,000, depending on experience.
- Uncapped commission: 50% on new business, 40% on renewals.
- Production and retention bonuses.
