CDL Class A Haul Truck / Lowboy Driver
Brooke Paving is hiring an experienced CDL Class A Haul Truck / Lowboy Driver to transport construction equipment, materials, and supplies to and from our jobsites.
This position involves frequent travel throughout South Texas, including regular runs between Corpus Christi and San Antonio, as well as out-of-town work when required. The driver will be responsible for safely loading, securing, transporting, and unloading dirt and asphalt construction equipment using a lowboy trailer.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a haul truck and lowboy trailer
- Transport dirt and asphalt equipment, including heavy construction equipment, between jobsites
- Properly load, position, secure, and unload equipment
- Perform required daily truck and trailer inspections
- Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Maintain accurate ELD logs and Hours of Service records
- Frequently make runs between Corpus Christi and San Antonio
- Travel and stay out of town as needed for projects
- Inspect chains, binders, straps, tires, lights, brakes, and other equipment before transport
- Ensure loads are properly secured and comply with DOT requirements
- Report truck, trailer, or equipment problems immediately
- Keep assigned truck and trailer clean and in good operating condition
- Safely enter and operate around active construction jobsites
- Communicate with supervisors and field personnel regarding equipment moves and schedules
- Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and traffic laws
Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL required
- Experience operating a tractor and lowboy/equipment trailer strongly preferred
- Experience hauling heavy construction equipment preferred
- Must be comfortable moving dirt and asphalt equipment
- Knowledge of proper equipment securement using chains and binders
- Ability to complete electronic ELD logs
- Knowledge of DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspection requirements
- Good driving record
- Dependable and able to report to work on time
- Must be willing to work out of town
- Must be willing to work early mornings, long days, and changing schedules based on construction operations
- Must be able to safely work around heavy equipment and active construction sites
Work Requirements
This is a construction-related driving position. Hours and schedules may vary depending on jobsite needs, equipment moves, weather, and project schedules. Out-of-town work and frequent travel between the Corpus Christi and San Antonio areas should be expected.
