Job Summary
We have been a local family-owned & operated auto glass replacement business in the Kansas City Metro for over 20 years. We are looking for new team members to work as an Auto Glass Technician where you'll play a vital role in ensuring vehicle safety and customer satisfaction through expert glass repair and installation. This energetic position does work year round. You will be expected to work in sun, wind, rain, and snow. Most work is performed outside. The job offers the opportunity to work with a variety of automotive glass materials, utilize advanced tools, and develop specialized skills in automotive glass replacement, and auto body repair. Your mechanical aptitude and attention to detail will help deliver top-quality service while maintaining safety standards. To be considered for this position, you MUST HAVE A CURRENT & VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE! NO EXCEPTIONS!
Duties
- Remove damaged or broken auto glass safely using hand tools and power tools, ensuring proper handling of glass materials.
- Install and fit new automotive glass with precision, including windshields, side windows, and rear windows, adhering to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform automotive glass repairs for chips and cracks to restore vehicle integrity when applicable.
- Operate company vehicles for on-site service calls or mobile installations while following safety protocols.
- Handle heavy lifting tasks related to glass installation and removal, utilizing mechanical knowledge for safe handling.
- Conduct vehicle inspections post-installation to verify quality, fitment, and proper sealing; perform detailing as needed for customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools are stored safely after use and that safety standards are consistently met.
Skills
- Proven experience or automotive background with a focus on auto glass or auto body repair.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and assembly techniques.
- Expertise in automotive glass replacement, including fitting glass installation with precision and care.
- Knowledge of heavy lifting techniques and proper use of glass handling equipment for safe material handling.
- Ability to perform manual glass cutting accurately when custom sizes are required.
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients about services performed.
- Understanding of vehicle maintenance procedures related to auto glass installation and general automotive repair.
- Awareness of power tool safety protocols during all phases of work to prevent accidents or injuries.
- Basic auto estimating skills for assessing job scope and parts requirements when needed.
