Introduction

The Department of Health Services (DHS) Southern Wisconsin Center (SWC) is recruiting to fill a Limited Term Employment (LTE) Chaplain position. SWC is a state run, licensed and certified Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (ICF/IDD).

LTE positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to a permanent civil service classified position, and do not lead to permanent status.
Wisconsin residency is required for LTE positions.
No more than 1039 hours may be worked within a 12-month period.

The work schedule will be determined upon hire.

Position Summary

As the SWC Chaplain, you will provide religious/spiritual services to the people supported by SWC in an interfaith manner. This position provides regularly scheduled services, instruction, and guidance for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Salary Information

The starting pay is between $27.50 and $34.34, depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 12/64.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Minimally qualified applicants will have both of the following:

Documentation or a letter of endorsement from an authority representing a faith community (uploaded in the ‘Supporting Documentation’ section of the job application).
Experience administering religious/spiritual programs including interfaith services and study groups (e.g., scheduling, coordinating staff/volunteers and resources, record keeping, etc.).

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

Experience adapting services to meet the needs of those with physical and/or intellectual disabilities.
Experience providing pastoral/spiritual ministry/support to individuals or families who may be in distress or crisis including end of life support.
Experience structuring interfaith religious study curriculum for varying levels of comprehension.
