Overview
Join our dedicated team as a Paraprofessional or Personal Care Assistant and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring compassionate support and personalized care. In this vital role, you will assist residents or clients with daily activities, monitor their well-being, and provide essential support to promote independence and quality of life. Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, patient behavior, and overall condition; report changes to healthcare professionals promptly
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning in accordance with dietary needs and preferences
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed
- Use patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques to ensure safe mobility assistance
- Provide personal transportation assistance for appointments, errands, or community outings as needed
Skills
- Position Requirements/Certifications Needed PARAPROFESSIONALS / PERSONAL CARE ASSISTANTS
- 1. Completion of a Teacher Assistant Pre-Employment Training Program approved by the RI Department of Education (RIDE). Three (3) exceptions to this particular qualification: i. Those hired before January 1, 1999 ii. Those with certification as a TA in another state. iii. Those with an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree AND who have completed coursework or other training consistent with the teacher assistant program standards. It is a district's decision whether coursework or other training is consistent with the teacher assistant program standards.
- 2. Meet one (1) of the following requirements: a. Successfully pass the ParaPro Assessment. OR b. Complete at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education OR c. Obtain an associate’s or higher degree.
