School-Age Coordinator
Abacus Schools at Avery Ranch is looking for a School-Age Program Coordinator to join our passionate, fun and talented team, where we inspire children to be lifelong learners! JOB SUMMARY:
The School-Age Coordinator is responsible for all aspects regarding the school-age program including activities, schedule, personnel, and child care components. The Coordinator ensures the counselors have the resources and support they need to promote the consistent flow of the program. The Coordinator maintains constant communication with school-age counselors to ensure that all parties are well informed of the program. Present for approval all planned activities and projected fees, and ensure incidents are reported daily to the Director. Ensure that the program is planned and organized within a timely manner and that all plans are implemented daily. Maintain an active and informative relationship with parents, families, and students.
MANAGEMENT:
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of the regulatory standards established by the Texas Department of Protective and regulatory Services and Department of Health.
- Participates in the hiring and maintenance of sufficient staff to provide care to the children enrolled.
- Communicates with the Director, providing feedback regarding staff competencies in implementation of the curriculum/program.
- Demonstrates positive interactions with parents, and effective communication at all times.
- Must be a team player, and always conduct themselves professionally and positively.
- Must always have approval from the Director on all proposed travel outside of the school with students.
- Always supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children in your care and be constantly aware of the needs and/or concerns of each child as well as the group as a whole.
- Collaborate with counselors and teachers on developing daily school-age activities, Summer Camp, Spring Break, and Winter Camp themes.
- Create and maintain binders of activities for the Winter Camp, Spring Break, and Summer Camps.
- Keep daily attendance rosters.
- Meet three months before, for a planning meeting for Spring Break and Winter Break.
- Meet six months before, for a planning meeting for Summer Camp.
- Responsible for programming the holiday camps and execution of all school-age events (i.e.: off site visits, field trips, volunteers, etc.) Post for families the departure and return of all scheduled field trips.
- Communicate daily with Director about all children/employee incidents, accidents, and other important information. Ensure proper documentation.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT:
- Willingness and ability to transport the children safely on field trips (21 years and older only). CDL license is encouraged.
- Scheduling and organizing bus routes.
- Guide children in the development of effective social skills with the practical application of manners, politeness, sharing, sportsmanship, etc.
- Meeting the individual needs of the children.
- Meeting the individual needs of the counselors (i.e.: schedules, lunch breaks, planning, etc.)
- Attend seminars, conferences, workshops, classes, lectures, etc. as appropriate, to enhance and maintain knowledge of trends and developments in school-age care (minimum of 24 hours per year)
- Be familiar with and follow all policy and procedures of Abacus School of Austin.
- Keep Director informed in advance of program needs.
- Create agenda for and attend regular employee team meetings and perform evaluations on your team.
- Demonstrate an ethical, professional attitude when interacting with children, parents, and staff.
- Demonstrate willingness to perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the Director.
CHILD CARE SKILLS:
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the developmental stages of growth and effectively integrate this throughout the program.
- Demonstrate understanding of the school’s discipline policy and ensure all counselors abide by this policy.
- Demonstrates ability to relate to children and create a warm, caring accepting environment.
- Demonstrates ability to effectively assess progress or areas of support/need and develop improvement plans either with individual children.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
- Demonstrate sound judgment in the management of the School-Age program; effectively interacting with children, parents, staff and community.
- Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate a high standard of professional ethics.
- Demonstrate a desire for professional growth, improvement of skills, etc.
- Demonstrates willingness and ability to perform other tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the Director of the school.
Job Type: Full-time
