About the Role:
The Senior Hazard Mitigation Planner plays a critical role in enhancing community resilience by identifying risks and developing strategies to reduce the impact of natural hazards. This position involves comprehensive analysis of hazard data, collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, and the creation of actionable mitigation plans that align with regulatory requirements. The planner will lead efforts to engage stakeholders and the public to ensure inclusive and effective hazard mitigation strategies. By integrating scientific research, policy considerations, and community needs, the role aims to minimize potential damage and promote sustainable development. Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Emergency Management, Geography, Engineering or a related field.

At least 10 years of professional experience in hazard mitigation planning, emergency management, or a closely related discipline.

Familiarity with federal and state hazard mitigation policies, including the Disaster Mitigation Act and FEMA’s mitigation planning requirements.

Strong analytical skills with experience in risk assessment and data interpretation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively prepare plans, reports, and conduct stakeholder engagement.
Preferred Qualifications:

Responsibilities:
