JOB SUMMARY
Provides a stimulating, safe, and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. Responsible for the daily planning, management, and supervision of the classroom and children. May lead and functionally supervise an Assistant Teacher or aide. Ensures that all parents, children, and classroom staff concerns are appropriately addressed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensures the physical, social, and emotional needs of the children are met daily.
- Implements all policies and procedures to keep the children healthy and safe.
- Creates activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving.
- Assists and supervises children during all activities.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and engaging classroom environment.
- Prepares and implements lesson plans and classroom schedules.
- Assists children with mealtimes and cleanup.
- Communicates effectively with parents and fosters family engagement.
- Ensures compliance with state licensing regulations.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accepts temporary work assignments when needed.
- Assists in planning and implementing Academy-wide events.
- Meets with prospective families and participates in evaluations.
- Contributes to the classroom portion of the monthly newsletter.
- Performs related duties as necessary.
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent and 18+ years of age.
- 2+ years' experience working in a childcare center.
- NC Early Childhood Credentials (NCECC) or equivalent.
- Clear background check and compliance with state medical requirements.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds consistently throughout the workday.
