We are looking for a Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) Technician that will be responsible for supporting laboratory and quality operations through product sampling, testing, environmental monitoring, documentation, and sample coordination. This role ensures accurate preparation, testing, and shipment of samples while maintaining compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works closely with the production department to verify that products meet established physical specifications and quality requirements.
- Performs physical laboratory testing on in-process products, including particle size (sieve analysis), density testing, moisture analysis, and magnetic metal detection.
- Collects representative inbound samples from raw material receipts according to established sampling procedures and prepares/distributes samples to the appropriate laboratory departments for testing.
- Identifies, documents, and escalates out-of-specification (OOS) results, food safety concerns, and quality deviations to Quality Management.
- Assists in the Environmental Monitoring Program, including sample collection and documentation.
- Supports product development activities by preparing representative customer and R&D samples that meet established specifications and project requirements.
- Maintains project records within the ERP system, organizes project materials, and coordinates the shipment of approved samples to customers.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Food Science or a related scientific field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience may be considered.
- Working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), and food safety programs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
- Forklift certification or experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in a Quality Control, Quality Assurance, laboratory, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience performing raw material sampling, physical testing, and product evaluation preferred.
- Experience working in a GMP/cGMP-regulated food, beverage, ingredient, nutraceutical, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment preferred.
Pay: Up to $26.00 per hour
