Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic team. This role involves delivering comprehensive occupational therapy services to children with diverse needs, including neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders. The successful candidate will implement individualized treatment plans, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and support children’s functional independence across various settings. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on pediatric populations while working in a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop personalized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices tailored to each child's needs.
- Assist children with activities of daily living (ADLs), including self-care routines such as dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Collaborate with speech therapists, physical therapists, educators, and families to ensure coordinated care and optimal outcomes.
- Support discharge planning by preparing clients and families for ongoing care needs post-therapy.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation within electronic health records (EHR) systems while adhering to medical terminology standards and confidentiality protocols.
Skills
- Proven experience working with children with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders and neurodevelopmental conditions.
- Familiarity with assisting clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and implementing occupational therapy programs in various settings such as outpatient clinics or schools.
- Experience working with students with special education needs and implementing evidence-based interventions.
- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Ability to manage medical documentation accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems.
