We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Factory Shop Assistant to join our manufacturing team. Responsibilities
- Safely operate a forklift to move lumber, materials, and finished products throughout the shop.
- Measure and cut lumber accurately to required specifications.
- Operate shop equipment, including a chop saw and circular (skill) saw.
- Assist with rough electrical work, including installing electrical boxes and learning additional electrical skills.
- Inspect products and materials to ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Organize, count, and maintain hardware and shop inventory.
- Load and unload materials as needed.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform additional shop duties as assigned.
Skills
- Proven experience working in a factory or manufacturing facility environment with familiarity in assembly line processes.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings and use measuring instruments accurately.
- Skilled in operating hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and other warehouse equipment safely.
- Knowledge of safety standards in production settings, including lean manufacturing principles and process improvement techniques.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks consistently while maintaining safety protocols.
- Technical proficiency with manufacturing management systems, technical drawings interpretation, and the use of measuring instruments for quality assurance.
