Job Overview
Pioneer Transport is seeking a skilled and energetic mechanic to join our team. Being a certified diesel mechanic is preferred, but not required as 75% of work would be trailer maintenance, 25% would be service calls and possible tractor trailer diesel engine / tractor repair. You will need to be skilled in diagnosing and repairing tractor trailers and trailers. Your expertise will ensure our fleet operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Most work will be done on equipment owned by Pioneer Transport, but some is performed for outside customers. Useful skills would include welding, perform DOT inspections, Replace or repair trailer parts, floor sections, roof / sidewall patching, DOT bumpers, Fabricate to complete a repair.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on semi trailers.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, air line maintenance.
- Fabricate and modify parts or components using welding and hand tools to meet specific repair needs or enhance equipment performance.
- Ability to do diagnostics on and repair diesel engines a plus, but not required.
- Operate semi's on our yard, move machinery safely around the shop.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete inspection reports, and ensure all repairs meet safety standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a heavy truck or trailer mechanic is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel mechanics, vehicle systems, transmissions, suspension components, and brake repair a plus, basic maintanence (tire / brake changes, lights etc required.)
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding for custom repairs or modifications.
- Class A CDL preferred, but not required.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate professionally with both customers and teammates.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in various environmental conditions safely.
- Most Importantly - The ability to get along with others, honesty and a can-do attitude are essentials.

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
