Duties
- Assist with animal restraint, handling, and care across a variety of species, including dogs, cats, and equines
- Support veterinarian during medical procedures such as IV insertions, catheterizations, medication administration, and surgeries
- Maintain a clean and sterile environment through thorough cleaning, equipment sterilization, and proper disposal of waste using personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Record detailed patient information, treatment notes, and medication logs accurately in the clinic’s record-keeping system
- Help with pet care activities including feeding, bathing, grooming, and monitoring animal behavior and welfare
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions and answer basic questions about animal health and behavior
- Assist in maintaining the safety of animals through proper restraint techniques and understanding of animal physiology and anatomy
Skills
- Prior kennel experience or veterinary clinic experience is highly desirable
- Strong animal handling skills with the ability to manage dogs, cats, and horses confidently
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal husbandry, and basic medical procedures
- Experience with front desk duties such as client communication, appointment scheduling, and record keeping is a plus
- Ability to perform cleaning tasks efficiently while adhering to safety protocols using PPE
- Familiarity with surgical support activities including assisting during procedures and post-operative care
- Excellent understanding of animal behavior, physiology, and anatomy to ensure safe restraint and treatment
