We are a well-established criminal defense law firm committed to providing legal representation and personalized client service. We are seeking a highly organized, dependable, and professional Legal Assistant to support our attorneys in a fast-paced practice. Must be bilingual (English/Spanish) to serve our clients.
This position is ideal for someone with strong administrative experience who is interested in building a long-term career in the legal field. Previous experience in a law office is preferred, but candidates with relevant professional office experience and the ability to learn quickly are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for clients by phone, email, and in person.
- Schedule client consultations, court appearances, and attorney meetings.
- Draft, proofread, and prepare legal correspondence and other documents.
- Maintain electronic and physical client files with a high level of accuracy.
- Coordinate with courts, prosecutors' offices, law enforcement agencies, and other legal professionals.
- Monitor attorney calendars and ensure court deadlines and appointments are met.
- Assist attorneys with case preparation, discovery organization, and trial preparation.
- File legal documents electronically and maintain accurate case records.
- Perform general administrative duties to support the daily operation of the office.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of professional administrative, legal assistant, or office experience required.
- Law firm experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work.
- Professional appearance, reliability, and a positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a law office or legal environment.
- Familiarity with legal terminology, court procedures, or case management software.
- Experience with electronic court filing (e-filing).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
