Position Summary
The Material Handler – Prep & Packaging position is responsible for receiving, tracking, prepping, and packaging high volumes of fabricated parts in a fast-paced production environment. This role is critical to maintaining accurate material traceability and ensuring that finished parts are properly inspected and packaged for shipment. The position requires strong attention to detail, comfort working with numbers and documentation in a hands-on shop environment, and the flexibility to support a variety of tasks to get the job done.
We are open to candidates at all experience levels. If you are new to fabrication and looking for a place to build your skills, we will train you. If you are an experienced handler with a background in team coordination or process ownership, there is a path for that here too.
Key Responsibilities

- Enter and update part, inventory, and receiving information in the company’s material tracking system.
- Clean, inspect, and prepare parts to meet quality standards prior to packaging.
- Package finished parts to order, ensuring correct quantities, part numbers, labeling, and protection for shipment.
- Assist with general shop tasks including material movement, staging, organization, and inventory cycle counts.
- Support the development and refinement of standard work and packaging procedures as the team and processes evolve.
- Adapt to shifting priorities and assist other departments as production needs change throughout the day.
What We’re Looking For
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and stay on task with minimal supervision.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to read, match, and verify part numbers and traceability data accurately.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and standing on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new software.
- Reliable, positive, and bring a good attitude.
- Experience in a fabrication environment or working with material tracking is a plus.

- Coordinate daily workload and task assignments for prep and packaging team members.
- Train and onboard new hires on receiving procedures, traceability documentation, and packaging standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between material handling and production, quality, and engineering teams.
