Recertification Specialist - Affordable Housing (Bilingual Spanish Required)

Summary/Objective: Paths is seeking a Recertification Specialist to support two affordable housing communities in Roslindale and Jamaica Plain totaling 245 units. This role is primarily focused on recertifications and compliance, while also supporting the day-to-day administrative operations of a high-volume property management office. Both properties operate under Project-Based Section 8, LIHTC (Tax Credit), and Portable Voucher programs. This is a resident-facing role that requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
Classification: Non-exempt (overtime eligible)
Location: Roslindale, MA 02131 (split schedule across two sites)
Essential function/Responsibilities: duties include but are not limited to the following:
Recertification & Compliance
- Conduct resident interviews for initial, annual, and interim recertifications
- Request and follow up on third-party verifications
- Review and process resident documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Calculate income, assets, and rent in accordance with HUD and LIHTC guidelines
- Identify discrepancies and ensure compliance with all program requirements
- Maintain accurate and audit-ready tenant files
- Track recertification deadlines and proactively follow up with residents
Administrative & Office Support
- Assist residents with walk-ins, questions, and general support
- Answer phones and respond to resident inquiries professionally
- Support document management including scanning, filing, faxing, and obtaining signatures
- Assist with work order entry and tracking
- Help maintain organized records and office systems
- Support general day-to-day operations of a busy property management office
Requirements:
- 1-2 years of recertification experience in affordable housing (Section 8, LIHTC, or similar programs)
- Must be comfortable independently managing recertification files from start to finish, including resident follow-up and document collection
- Bilingual in Spanish - must be comfortable communicating in a professional setting to support resident needs
- Strong understanding of income verification, compliance, and recertification processes
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a high-volume environment
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
- Professional, patient, and resident-focused communication style with the ability to work effectively with residents, applicants, and team members
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with Yardi or similar property management software is a plus
- High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred
Salary Range: $21.00 to $23.00 per hour
