Position Overview:
As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining gas, electric, and steam-powered commercial cooking and laundry equipment. Your expertise will help businesses stay up and running efficiently, and your professionalism will ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair a broad range of commercial cooking appliances such as:
- Combi ovens, convection ovens, fryers, steamers, ranges, tilt skillets, grills, dishwashers
- Service commercial laundry machines including:
- Industrial washers, dryers, flatwork ironers, and extractors
- Perform preventive maintenance to extend equipment life and reduce downtime
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical system failures
- Read and interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals
- Identify worn or defective parts and complete necessary replacements
- Document all work performed, including time tracking, parts used, and service outcomes
- Provide expert advice and recommendations to customers about their equipment needs
- Maintain a stocked service vehicle and manage part inventory
- Ensure safety standards and compliance procedures are followed at all times
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Commercial restaurant and/or laundry equipment or similar in the field
- Advanced knowledge of:
- Electrical systems: 120v, 208v, 240v, 480v, 3-phase, and control circuits
- Gas systems: LP and natural gas components, including regulators, burners, and pilot assemblies
- Steam systems: Boiler maintenance, valves, traps, and pressure control components
- Experience working with:
- Diagnostic tools (multimeters, gas leak detectors, pressure gauges)
- Power tools and hand tools used in heavy equipment repair
- Solid understanding of safety procedures when working with live electrical panels, gas lines, and high-temperature equipment
- Proficiency in using a mobile device or tablet to complete service reports and communicate with dispatch
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills under pressure
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
- Ability to lift and move up to 100 lbs, work in confined spaces, and perform physically demanding tasks
- CFESA certification preferred or willingness to complete within first year of onboarding.
