Hotel Maintenance Technician / Building & Grounds Maintenance Worker
Location: Havelock, NC
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Hotel Maintenance Technician to join our team in Havelock, NC. The ideal candidate will have experience in hotel, commercial, or residential maintenance and possess strong troubleshooting and repair skills. Punctuality, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential. Candidates must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and be available for on-call emergency maintenance as needed in after hours.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections of hotel buildings, guest rooms, grounds, and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Repair and maintain electrical systems, including replacing light fixtures, outlets, switches, breakers, and bulbs.
- Maintain plumbing systems, including toilets, sinks, faucets, drains, and water lines.
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, ventilation, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
- Inspect and maintain fire alarms, smoke detectors, emergency lighting, and other safety equipment.
- Complete general repairs such as fixing locks, doors, windows, drywall, flooring, and ceiling tiles.
- Perform painting, carpentry, patching, and other renovation projects as needed.
- Maintain hotel laundry equipment, kitchen equipment, and other operational systems.
- Conduct preventative maintenance programs and maintain maintenance logs.
- Ensure the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of the hotel exterior, parking areas, landscaping, exercise room, and common areas.
- Coordinate with department managers to prioritize maintenance projects and room repairs.
- Meet with government inspectors, health department officials, insurance representatives, and contractors as required.
- Assist with pest control measures and corrective actions when necessary.
Pool Maintenance Responsibilities (Summer Season)
- Perform daily pool inspections and maintain pool chemical logs in accordance with state and local health regulations.
- Test and balance pool water chemistry, including chlorine, pH, alkalinity, and other required parameters.
- Clean pool decks, remove debris, empty skimmer baskets, and ensure pool equipment is functioning properly.
- Monitor pool pumps, filters, and circulation systems and perform routine maintenance.
- Ensure pool safety equipment and signage remain compliant and in good condition.
- Coordinate pool repairs and service calls when necessary.
Qualifications
- Experience in hotel, commercial, apartment, or general building maintenance preferred.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to safely operate maintenance tools and equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency maintenance calls when needed.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Compensation
Pay will be based on experience and qualifications.
