Medical Assistant — OB/GYN Department
Seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and clinical staff in a busy OB/GYN department. This role provides both clinical and clerical support in a fast-paced women’s health setting, including rooming patients, documenting vital signs and visit information in the EMR, assisting with exams and procedures, and helping maintain smooth patient flow throughout the day.
The schedule includes Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a rotating Monday evening shift from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM and occasional early starts at 7:20 AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Responsibilities
- Room patients and document medications, vital signs, chief complaint, and visit reason in the EMR.
- Perform screening and measuring procedures, including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
- Prepare exam rooms and assist providers with gynecologic exams and office procedures as needed.
- Collect specimens, perform routine laboratory testing, and assist with processing orders as directed.
- Obtain outside records, test results, and other patient information to support continuity of care.
- Explain instructions, medications, and follow-up guidance to patients in a clear and professional manner.
- Maintain clean, stocked, and well-prepared exam rooms and ensure instruments and supplies are properly handled.
- Support administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, updating encounters, and coordinating patient flow.
- Follow HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and safety procedures at all times.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- Prior EMR and computer experience required.
- Experience in OB/GYN or women’s health preferred.
- Strong communication skills, professional phone etiquette, and the ability to work well with patients and clinical staff.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and remain calm in a busy, high-pressure environment.
- Attention to detail, self-motivation, and a patient-centered approach.
- Knowledge of basic clinical procedures, specimen handling, and office workflow preferred.
Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
