Mentality Behavioral Health Center is seeking a dependable and patient-focused Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our outpatient mental health clinic. This role is primarily front office–based with minimal back office clinical duties as this is a psychiatric clinic.. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, professional, and comfortable working in a behavioral health environment.
Primary Responsibilities – Front Office
- Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries professionally
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments
- Complete medication prior authorizations with insurance companies
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
- Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic health record (EHR) system
- Provide excellent customer service while supporting patients with empathy and discretion
- Respond to patient inquiries and emails
- Collect copays/co-insurance/deductables and any past due balances
- Submit treatment authorization requests through various insurance portals
Secondary Responsibilities – Back Office
- Obtain and document vital signs
- Administer medication injections as permitted by certification and scope of practice
- Perform daily Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) once trained and certified by the company - once trained, when needed.
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required
- At least 6 months of front office Medical Assistant experience required
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
- Previous experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations preferred
- Previous medication prior authorization experience preferred
- Behavioral health or outpatient clinic experience preferred
- Bilingual preferred but not required
- Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills
- Ability to follow all HIPAA privacy and confidentiality standards
**IMPORTANT**
Starting schedule will be 16-20 hours per week. Some traveling between Diamond Bar location and Chino Hills location required
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 per hour
