Dream Enrichment Classes is seeking energetic, dependable, and enthusiastic Pickleball Instructors to lead our after-school Pickleball Academy programs at elementary and middle schools throughout the greater Sacramento area.
This is an excellent part-time opportunity for pickleball players, coaches, educators, college students, recreation professionals, and individuals who enjoy helping children build confidence, athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
Position Overview
As an After-School Pickleball Instructor, you will introduce students to the fundamentals of pickleball through engaging drills, games, challenges, and team-building activities. Classes are designed for beginning and intermediate students and emphasize safety, participation, character development, and having fun.
Dream Enrichment Classes provides the curriculum, equipment, lesson plans, supplies, and training needed to successfully lead each class.
Responsibilities
- Teach age-appropriate pickleball skills to elementary and middle school students.
- Lead warmups, skill-building drills, games, and team activities.
- Create a positive, encouraging, and inclusive learning environment.
- Teach proper paddle handling, serving, volleys, court positioning, scoring, and game rules.
- Promote teamwork, perseverance, respect, responsibility, and good sportsmanship.
- Maintain active supervision and follow all student safety procedures.
- Set up and properly store pickleball equipment before and after each class.
- Take attendance and assist with student check-in and dismissal.
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, school staff, and Dream Enrichment Classes management.
- Complete required attendance records, incident reports, and class reports.
Qualifications
- Experience playing pickleball is required; coaching or teaching pickleball is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience working with children is required.
- Ability to confidently manage groups of elementary or middle school students.
- Energetic, patient, dependable, and enthusiastic personality.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to demonstrate pickleball techniques and participate in physical activities.
- A valid Driver's license is required and you must have reliable transportation and a willingness to travel to assigned school locations.
- Availability during weekday afternoons, generally between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
- Ability to complete required background checks and employment-clearance requirements.
- Willingness to complete required safety, classroom-management, and mandated-reporter training.
Schedule
- Part-time, weekday afternoons
- Approximately one to two classes per week, with opportunities for additional assignments
- Most shifts are approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, including setup and cleanup
- School-year position with potential opportunities during camps, special events, and future sessions
