POSITION DESCRIPTION: The job of Para- Educator: Special Education, Moderate-Severe is done for the purpose of directly assisting special education students including, but not limited to emotionally disturbed, severely disabled, autistic, and full inclusion under direction from certificated/licensed personnel; providing support and general supervision of students in various instructional settings including general education (TK-12) and adult; and assisting with the instructional and physical needs of students.
REPORTS TO: For School Age Special Education Programs (TK-12), employee will report to the Site Principal; For Preschool and Adult Transition Programs, employee will report to the Director of Special Education
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: E = Essential Duties The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. 1. Maintains confidentiality of information about students and parents. E
2. Under the direction of the certificated/licensed staff member adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives. E
3. Provides medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional for the purpose of meeting immediate physical needs. E
4. Assists medically fragile or physically disabled students with self-feeding, hygiene, grooming, dressing skills, and all aspects of toileting for the purpose of maintaining students' personal hygiene. E
5. Under the supervision of certificated personnel assists in maintaining established discipline, classroom management routines and policies. E
6. Attends meetings and trainings as appropriate (e.g. first aid, CPR, CPI, emergency procedures, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions. E
